Aug 10, 2015 In Microsoft Outlook 2016 for Mac running on Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) or later versions, you cannot set Outlook as the default application. In Outlook Preferences, under General, you enable the Make Outlook the default application for e-mail, calendar, and contacts option. Choose Plain Text or Formatted Text (Outlook 2016 for Mac) Outlook 2016 for Mac lets you choose whether to compose and send messages in plain text or formatted text. The default is formatted text. You can disable this feature, along with the suggestion bubble that pops up while you type, by changing the AutoComplete setting in your Outlook options. Select 'Options' from the File menu. Any time you type, no matter the app, the predictive text is there doing its thing. Using the app’s settings, you can even tame or scale the way it works. So no matter what it takes one would need to do what smartphones have been doing; only make it work for the PC & Mac. Your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad and Mac stop rummaging through on-device email messages, looking for contacts with phone numbers. Incoming phone calls from unknown numbers will show up as “Unknown” instead of as educated guesses, aptly suffixed by “Maybe:”.

How can I turn off the Auto Correct feature in Outlook 2011?
I was not able to find anything about that in the web.
Edit:
- Disabling all Auto Correcting in the Preferences as Buscar웃 suggested did not help.

Removing hyperlink from text in word for mac. The Auto Correct (spelling) is located in the Outlook Preferences.
Open the AutoCorrect and uncheck all.
Just in case we are talking about something else:
To turn off automatic spell checking, on the Edit menu, point to Spelling and Grammar, and then clear the check mark next to Check Spelling While Typing.

Changing settings within Outlook didn't help. It appears that Apple has an overriding spell check, and when it's on, Outlook still automatically corrects words not in its dictionary, making them into embarassing spelling mistakes.
In my version of the Mac OS (10.9.4), the master switch is in: - system preferences - keyboard -text
Other versions of the Mac OS (Lion?) apparently have it in: - system preferences - Language & text - text
Thanks to answers.microsoft.com for pointing me in the right direction.
